All of today’s examples are in the form [nominative] [dative] [accusative] [verb].

1.) Ancilla puellae statuam dat. The (female) servant gives the statue to the girl.

Ancillae puellis statuas dant. The (female) servants give the statues to the girls.

2.) Dominus servo anulum dabat, “he was giving”. The lord was giving the ring to the servant.

Domini servis anulos dabant. The lords were giving the rings to the servants.

3.) Miles homini laborem dedit, “he gave” or “he has given”. The soldier gave work to the man.

Milites hominibus labores dederunt. The soldiers gave jobs to the men.

4.) Vocab: vulnus vulneris, neuter, “wound”. (The vulner- part is called the stem.)

Miles homini vulnus dedit. The soldier gave a wound to the man.

Milites hominibus vulnera dederunt. The soldiers gave wounds to the men.

5.) Vocab: imperatum -i, neuter, “command”.

Miles homini imperatum dedit. The soldier gave a command to the man.

Milites hominibus imperata dederunt. The soldiers gave commands to the men.

6.) Vocab: dux ducis, masculine, “leader”.

Vocab: praemium -i, neuter, “a reward”.

Dux exercitui praemium dedit. The leader gave a reward to the army.

Duces exercitibus praemia dederunt. The leaders gave rewards to the armies.

7.) Acies aciei, feminine, “battleline”.

Dux aciei praemium dedit. The leader gave the reward to the battleline.

Duces aciebus praemia dederunt. The leaders gave the rewards to the battlelines.
